Nomura Adds Expertise to its Expanding Australian Equity Business With Four Key Senior Hires
Advancing the growth and momentum of its Australian operations, Nomura, the global investment bank, announced four key senior appointments to its Australian equity business on September 9.
The new hires will report to Andrew Norman, Head of Equities Australia and Richard Johnson, Head of Research. They include; Managing Director, Head of Resources Research; Executive Director, Head of Smaller Companies Research; Vice President, Resources Analyst and Vice President, Sales.
“These senior appointments are a significant step forward for Nomura’s presence and expertise in the Australian market. The establishment of dedicated resources and small caps teams expands our coverage of the market to 15 sectors and 80% of the ASX200 by market capitalisation,” Andrew Norman said.
David Radclyffe will be joining Nomura as Managing Director, Head of Resources Research and will be based in London from 7 September. He will permanently relocate to Sydney in January. David has more than 12 years experience in the industry covering metals, bulk commodities, precious metals, and energy. Most recently David worked at Bank of Montreal (BMO) Capital Markets in London where he covered global metals companies. Prior to BMO David was Head of Resources research at Southern Cross Equities in Sydney.
As a geologist, David worked for North Ltd, Newcrest Mining and Homestake Gold. David has a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Macquarie University, and an Honours degree in Economic Geology from the University of Tasmania.
Paul Graham will be joining Nomura as Executive Director and Head of Smaller Companies Research in late October. Paul has 16 years of research experience and joins from Credit Suisse, where he was a member of the highly rated smaller companies’ team. Prior to his time at Credit Suisse, Paul worked for Citigroup in Sydney, Westpac Investment Management, BT, HSBC in London and Bell Potter Securities. Paul has a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of Queensland.
David Cotterell will be joining Nomura as Vice President, Resources Analyst in early October. He will also be based in London initially before relocating to Sydney in January. David also comes from Bank of Montreal (BMO) Capital Markets in London where he covered global metals companies. Prior to his experience at BMO, David was at Global Mining Research and Aegis Equities Research. He also has 6 years experience as an underground mine geologist with Western Mining and Newmont.
David has a Bachelor of Applied Science from Queensland University of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology from the University of Queensland.
Trent Martin joined Nomura Australia in early September as Vice President, Sales, Trent will relocate to Hong Kong as a specialist Australian sales lead covering Asian based institutions. Trent has three years experience in sales at RBS in New York and most recently RBS Morgans in Sydney. Prior to his sales roles, he was an assistant research analyst at RBS covering the infrastructure and transport sectors. Trent has also worked as a financial analyst for Qantas for five years. Trent has a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from Macquarie University.
These appointments follow Nomura’s recent hiring of Mark Bartels as Head of Equity Capital Markets in August and Peter McGregor as Managing Director and Head of General Industrials of its Investment Banking division in June.
