Newedge, a global leader in multi-asset brokerage and clearing, announced 1 January that Eric Shi rejoins the firm’s Energy desk as Head of China Commodities.

Based in New York, Eric will lead a team of market specialists in New York and Hong Kong, and be responsible for expanding Newedge’s commodities business in Asia, focusing specifically on energy. He will report to Robert Vujtech, Global Co-Head of Energy at Newedge.

“Commodities demand and supply in Asia is growing dynamically; aligned to that growth is a need for sophisticated solutions to trade, hedge and invest effectively. Eric’s long-standing experience and expertise in Asian commodities markets will help enhance our energy proposition and leverage our strong global platform for the benefit of clients,” said Robert Vujtech, Global Co-Head of Energy at Newedge.

Eric Shi rejoins Newedge after a two-year spell as Global Head of Commodities at BOC International, Bank of China’s investment bank. Prior to that, he was responsible for growing Newedge’s energy business in China for eight years.
