Citi today announced that it has appointed Endre Markos as Head of Electronic Markets and Platforms, Asia-Pacific, for its Securities and Fund Services business. Prior to joining Citi, Markos was with Bloomberg LP for nearly 15 years, during its rapid rise in the financial information and technology space.

His appointment underscores Citi’s commitment to providing clients with leading Electronic Markets expertise in the Securities and Fund Services business.

In his new role, Markos is part of an Electronic Markets transformation program, whose objective is to increase the number of knowledgeable and experienced information industry professionals in client-facing roles. Citi’s Securities and Fund Services business provides investors with tailored solutions delivered through proven global platforms that feature modular, open architecture. Markos will lead Citi’s Electronic Markets developments, including the CitiDirect® suite of products, CitiConnect, Execution-to-Custody and a variety of other connectivity solutions, designed to bring new processing efficiencies by improving the flow of information within and between counterparties. As an Electronic Markets specialist, he will also be working with the bank’s Intermediaries group to expand Citi’s on-exchange clearing platform in Asia-Pacific, with a focus on the changing roles of local exchanges, clearing and securities depositories.

Based in Hong Kong, Markos will report to David Russell, Managing Director, Region Head of Securities and Fund Services, Asia Pacific, and globally to New York-based Curt Brill, Global Head of Electronic Markets at Citi.

Commenting on the appointment, Russell said, “More than ever before, operational efficiency, integrated technology and local presence are becoming essential in all areas of the financial community, but certainly in the asset servicing arena. The experience and expertise that Endre brings will be key to helping Citi drive this initiative forward in this growing region.” Through its Securities and Fund Services business, Citi’s industry-focused experts provide investors worldwide with tailored solutions delivered through proven global platforms that feature modular, open architecture.
