Bursa Malaysia Names Uday Jayaram As Global Head Of Securities Market
Bursa Malaysia today announced the appointment of Uday Jayaram as its Global Head of Securities Market, effective today. In this role, Uday will have responsibility for developing the Exchange’s business strategies for the equities market as well as leading product innovation and development towards positioning Bursa Malaysia as an investment and listing destination of choice. His expertise and his strong global experience with global institutions will benefit the Exchange greatly.
Uday brings with him over 15 years experience from the financial and investment services. Prior to his appointment to Bursa Malaysia, he was Head of Equities at Macquarie Capital Securities and was instrumental in establishing Macquarie’s broking presence in Malaysia. As one of the key international financial players in the country, Uday has actively encouraged capital inflows into the Malaysian equities market.
He also previously served as Head of Research in ING Barings, building research expertise across various key sectors in the investment industry. He was also attached to several financial firms such as CIMB and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, gaining experience in investment banking. Uday qualified as a chartered accountant whilst working with Ernst & Young London in the early days of his career.
Currently, Uday is Chairman of the FTSE-Bursa Malaysia Index Advisory Committee. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics, UK.
