Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Crude Palm Oil Futures Open Interest Hits Record High
Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad’s (BMD) hits all-time high for its crude palm oil futures (FCPO) open interest at 101,960 contracts February 16, surpassing the previous open interest record of 101,536 contracts on 8 June 2007.
The increase of open interest is an important milestone which shows sustained interest in FCPO contracts by market players. The FCPO’s open interest has been healthy for the past three years, averaging at 80,000 contracts per day. In addition, BMD’s FCPO recently reached an all-time high of 451,843 contracts for November 2010, signaling the increasing liquidity in the FCPO market.
