1st Brazil China Capital Markets Forum

BM&FBOVESPA and the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) held the 1st Brazil-China Capital Markets Forum on February 21-22, in São Paulo. The two exchanges signed a memorandum of understanding at the Espaço Raymundo Magliano Filho visitors’ center on the evening of February 21, in order to start joint discussion about business opportunities and the exchange of information.

On February 22, the event was held at the Hotel Unique. It was opened by Luciano Coutinho, the president of the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES), followed by a presentation by Maria Helena Santana, the president of the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM). The event represented the effective beginning of the Brazil-China Cooperation Agreement, which seeks to boost reciprocal knowledge among participants in the two markets, in particular brokerage houses, investors, banks and the investment funds and participants in both countries’ capital markets. The event’s closing was conducted by São Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin.

The forum also had presentations by companies listed on the SSE and by Chinese and Brazilian brokerage houses and asset managers.
